Five reasons why mini homes are great for families

As any parent knows, once kids arrive in your life everything changes and suddenly you have a whole new set of priorities. Becoming a parent often gives us a push towards wanting to own a home, with a yard for our children to play in, where we can find a stable community in which to raise them. New mini homes are surprisingly spacious. Despite the name, mini homes are anything but mini these days! One of our largest Kent mini homes, the MacLean, is 74ft long with 1184 sq ft of living space. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a layout that offers privacy and space for growing families. At one end of the MacLean is a master suite and bathroom with walk-in shower, and at the other end are two bedrooms with another full-bathroom. This home has a massive kitchen with a double-sized island and walk-in pantry, laundry room, loads of storage and beautiful, modern finishes throughout. Our mini homes are big enough for entertaining, and having all those wonderful family gatherings over the Holidays.

Land lease communities offer a safe and welcoming environment. When you move into one of the land lease communities in the HRM, you’re going to find neighbours who support each other and care deeply about their home environment – something that it can be hard to find when you’re a renter in an area where there are many other rental units. Several of the land lease communities that Havill’s has a relationship with are in areas with great schools, serviced by transit, and close to playgrounds and rec centres. Woodbine Park for example, offers a very modern new playground, a large green space for children to play, and a lovely duck pond, on site.

Mini homes are a great first step on the property ladder. The affordability of mini homes helps families to purchase their first home. You’ll need to secure a mortgage the same as buying any other home, and you’ll need to find a downpayment and closing costs, but because the actual home costs less, these costs are going to be lower.
