Why it’s a good time to buy a mini home

We’re getting lots of inquiries on our mini homes right now, and we know that a lot of people are looking to improve their living situations given the stressful circumstances that we all find ourselves in. We get it – cramped apartments seem all the more cramped when you’re stuck in them, and now that we’ve been forced to slow our lives down, some of us have the time to sit down and think about the lives that we want to lead once this is all over. We hear you, and wanted to use this blog to explain why the timing is perfect for you to think about buying a beautiful new mini home.

Low interest rates

We haven’t seen interest rates dip this low in a long time, which is great news for home buyers. Right now, we can get you into a brand new mini home for as little as $700 a month – way less than most people are likely paying in rent for a HRM apartment. Above your mortgage, home expenses with mini homes are generally low because they are built to exceedingly high energy efficiency standards. We offer a wide range of sizes and styles of our Kent mini homes, designed to suit all manner of living arrangements, from comfortable one-bedroom places to spacious homes with three-bedrooms and two bathrooms. There are many customization options, so you can give the home the features that are important to you – and there’s never been a better time financially for you to do it.

It’s almost business as usual

At Havill’s, we’re taking the safety of our staff and clients very seriously. Our office is closed to the public, but we are able to do everything remotely via phone, email, FaceTime, Zoom, or whatever technology you are most comfortable using. We’re even able to do virtual video tours of homes if that is something you are interested in.

For those clients who want to come and see our homes in person, we are able to offer in-person tours using heightened safety protocols. Our home consultants are still meeting with clients, but on a one on one appointment only basis, so that nobody else is in our offices but the client and the consultant. We are sanitizing any touch surfaces before and after every meeting.

Kent is still manufacturing mini homes, but is using added precautions to the construction process. The way that Kent homes are constructed is advantageous in terms of cleanliness and safety – they have always been built in a controlled indoor environment that easily enables such measures to be put in place. Kent mini homes are being constructed safely and on time, delivered to our customers and making dreams come true, even now.

Take advantage of the slow down

This whole situation is terribly hard, but it does mean that we have the time to hone in on the most important things, distraction free. This can include getting our finances in order, and seizing the opportunity to make big changes. Are you ready to make the move into a new mini home and start building equity for your future? If the time is right for you, reach out to one of our Home Consultants, Viola or Alan, who can walk you through the process and help get you into the home of your dreams.

PLEASE NOTE: The health and welfare of all our customers and staff remains our top priority, and we are being diligent with our sanitization protocols.  We are taking actions to limit contact with the public, while still being there for you, our customers. With this in mind, our office is closed to walk-ins, but operating on an appointment only basis. We ask that you arrive to your pre-booked appointment wearing a mask. Masks are mandatory for staff and clients during the entirety of the visit. We offer masks & gloves at our office. Plexiglass barriers have also been installed at all of the desks.  As always, if you or someone in your household is feeling unwell and/or showing symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you refrain from in-person appointments.   Please contact one of our Professional Home Consultants to schedule an in-person meeting. If you prefer, we do also offer virtual services for meetings, home showings and closings. All new inquiries are to be made via our office phone voicemail system (902)835-8388 or by email:   We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation as it unfolds, and are working on contingencies that will ensure that our clients may continue to be served during these uncertain times.   We thank you for your understanding and we hope you stay safe & healthy. We will get through this together!   Note: This information is current as of June 29th, 2021.
