Emily Towns’ fabulous year at Ten Beaches

When registered nurse Emily Towns was offered a job in Halifax, she was eager to move her husband and four young children from Ontario to Nova Scotia as soon as possible to take up the opportunity. “I knew that we’d be looking at either renting or buying a mini home, but I wasn’t having much success in terms of finding a company that could get us into a home quickly. As a last-ditch effort, I reached out to Havill’s, and they were able to get us into a home in just three weeks,” Emily explains.

Reaching out to Havill’s, Emily was put in touch with homes consultant Viola Selk-Tremble, who was able to show her a range of homes that were on the lot and ready to go, as well as provide her with options as to where the home could be placed.

Emily chose the Chester mini home, and the Havill’s team moved fast to get it settled into the Ten Beaches community on the South Shore. Her family has been living at Ten Beaches for just over a year now, and it was clearly a great move for them. “It’s beautiful here. And we spent the whole summer just beaching it,” Emily says, “My kids love swimming and being on the beach, and what’s great about living here is that if we go to Queensland Beach and it’s packed, we just drive up to the next beach.”

The community has proven ideal for Emily and her family. She is very happy with the schools (her older boys are in the local consolidated school, and her four-year-old daughter is in the pre-primary program there) and loves how much outdoor play is part of their everyday lives.

If she’d had more time, Emily says that she might have chosen a model with two bathrooms, but overall is very happy with how the Chester has worked out for her family. “We fit fairly nicely into the home considering the size of our family. We’ve really been enjoying living a little more simply. There’s no extra space we don’t use, which is nice,” Emily says.

Looking back on her experience of buying her mini home with Havill’s, Emily says that it was such an easy experience, especially compared to the last time that she bought a home. “Viola at Havill’s was just fantastic. She advocated for us a lot to make sure that we were able to get into our home, and that made our move from Ontario much smoother,” Emily says, “The level of service, and the kindness, that we experienced was fantastic.”
