Havill’s by the numbers

With almost 70 years in business, Havill’s has gathered a whole lot of knowledge on mini homes and the people who love to live in them. We thought it would be fun to list some numbers and facts in this blog post.

Our most compact mini home is the Mahone at 784 -sq ft. Small but perfectly formed, this design is perfect for those looking for a low-maintenance home with all the attractive features that come as standard in all our floor plans. 

Our biggest floorplans are 1184 sq ft, and we offer 5 models in this size: the Dupuis, the Rissers, the Tennycape, the Jasper the MacLean—our most popular mini home. These homes all come with spacious bedrooms, more than one bathroom and plenty of living space as well as some neat design features that make them truly special.

Havill’s opened for business in 1953 and is still family-operated. Al Havill, our owner and president is the grandson of founder Walter Havill. Al’s son David just joined the team as property manager of our Valley Gate Park and Woodlawn Village Communities.

The maximum size that our mini homes are allowed to be is 16 feet wide and 74 feet long. Any larger and we couldn’t be allowed to move them by road! 

We have 10 communities located throughout the HRM on which buyers can place their new mini home, with access to a few more just outside of the HRM, if you’re looking to get out of the city.

Kent mini homes are constructed in beautiful Bouctouche, NB, which means they travel approximately 300km on the highway through two provinces to our communities in the HRM.

Our service team has over 50 years of combined experience in the construction industry.

Please be advised that our office is open by appointment only. We are trying whenever possible to maintain social distancing to keep our staff and clients safe. We have tight areas in our office and want to avoid client overlap. During Covid, we discovered that we are able to share information about our homes with clients from the comfort and safety of their own home, using video meetings, virtual tours, and digital signing.  At this time, you will also notice we have no model homes on the lot to view in person, however, we do have virtual tours of all of our homes that can be found online on our YouTube channel or our FaceBook page.
